Our team participates on the North Carolina ICL (Interscholastic Cycling League) which is a part of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). Our season starts with practices in December and runs through mid-May. The season includes team activities and destination rides, league races and adventure events, and more!
A typical practice consists of: on the bike handling skills, team building games, trail riding, strength conditioning and we often end with post ride stretching.
March through May, we travel across the region to participate in NICA races and adventure events. Although weekend events are optional, for 2026 the NICA registration fee includes access to all weekend events.
Currently, girls represent 24% of NICA’s overall national student-athlete participation. NICA GRiT (Girls Riding Together) seeks to increase that number significantly over the next five years. The GRiT Program is NICA’s effort to recruit and retain more girls and female coaches in NICA programs.
